About Us
The Undergraduate Politics & Law Journal at Fairleigh Dickinson University was founded in 2022. The journal provides undergraduate students with opportunities to explore legal and political issues (broadly understood) and collaborate with faculty and student editors to publish articles. The journal experience is enriching at the undergraduate level and provides students with an important entry in their scholarly portfolio.
On February 2, 2024, the UPLJ announced the establishment of the Women’s History Month Essay Contest for NJ high school students (grades 9-12). The UPLJ was truly impressed by the quality of all the submissions it received.
February 14, 2024 is the sixth anniversary of the Majory Stonemason Douglas High School shooting. In order to honor the students who lost their lives during that fatal shooting, our newest editor Faith Cardillo wrote a personal essay. Faith’s essay will detail her personal experience with what could have potentially been another school shooting.
The UPLJ is excited about its inaugural essay contest for current high school students (grades 9-12). This essay contest was established in honor of Women’s History Month. Both Fairleigh Dickinson University (“FDU”) and The UPLJ are dedicated to ensuring that the voices of all women are heard and respected.
On January 25, 2024, Fairleigh Dickinson University (Florham) had the pleasure of hosting a press conference for U.S. Representative Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ). During that press conference, Representative Sherrill announced two bills that would create programs to assist veterans with the process of transitioning to civilian life.
Gun violence is an epidemic throughout schools and institutions in the United States. Over one hundred students have signed on to this op-ed as a symbol of solidarity in the face of such tragedy. Regardless of their zip code, students go to school scared of being the next victim of gun violence and we’ve had enough.

Kaitlyn Wojtowicz is the Vice President of Public Affairs at Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey. In that position, Ms. Wojtowicz played a big role in pushing for the passage of the Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act. The Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act guarantees a woman’s right to abortion in the State of New Jersey.
